Would this be a job for otocincluses?
I have a 10 gallon planted tank that is fully cycled, but it has algea growing on the plants and bogwood and terra cotta pot. I really need something to clean it up!!! The tank currently has a male betta fish and 3 african dwarf frogs.
Snails could work, as would Amano shrimp. Otos can work too. It comes down to personal preference really.
Yes it's safe to say that they will help you control it but they're not miracle workers. If it's thick it might be easier to scrub it off but if it's mild they will help you. I have this problem and I have two in my 10 gallon aquarium. They like to be in groups so more than one is a good idea. I've had them with Betta's and ADF so they should be okay but if your betta is very aggressive he might pick on them so provide them with plenty of hiding spots. YOu will also need to feed them algae wafers as this will give them complete nutrition where as your tank algae will not. They are peaceful so they will leave your frogs and betta alone. If they try to "Suck" on your other aquatic life this is an indication that they aren't getting all their nutrition. Good water parameters are a good idea.
