I bought the tank and fish and everything for the enjoyment of my 3 year old daughter I was cleaning it when i noticed a small crack about 2 inches from the bottom about 4 inches from the center of the tank i removed the 5 goldfish and put them in a 1 gallon bowl but they cant stay in there to long so how can i fix the aquarium at least to last till after christmas
your best bet is to get a new tank. You can find good deals on craiglist, and they are not too expensive at pet stores when you buy just the tank and not the "complete sets"
The reason for this is that once glass starts cracking even if you fill in the crack it can still "run" from all the pressure of the water. A new tank is a lot cheaper then having to come home to dead fish and 20 gallons worth of water damage.
You need to get a new tank asap. Goldfish are extremely messing fish and five in one bowl can cause overnight ammonia poisoning (yes that quickly) and you will wake up to five dead fish in the morning.
Well its only $ 20 for a new 20 Gallon tank from Petco 1 "=$ 1 there.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Fish are kinda hard pets for kids because they really require ALOT of things and often get sick and die unless REALLY taken care of, i have a 100g with 1 canister, 1 30g filter, decorations, pebbles, decor, you need a bubbler, to do water changes and clean up waste, and clean the tank. If you really dont they will just die, and GOLD FISH are really hard to keep alive cuz they are dirtier then tropical fish.
IF fish are to be kept in a bowl with no bubbler, get a BETTA fish, they like just perfectly STILL water and require alot less maintenance and look prettier
In most pet stores there is an acrylic in a tube that you can fill the crack with. Not sure if the name but if you ask an associate they can help you. We had a similar problem in a 75 gal tank. This tube of stuff worked great. It just dries and fills in the crack.
5 Goldfish in a bowl? One dies in a week or less so 5 most likely wont make it through the night. Only 2 Goldfish 1-4 "can be in a 20 gallon. Maybe 3 with proper water changes. In a bowl they will die from ammonia poisoning and/or lack of oxygen.

Goldfish also require a air source like a bubble stone. 5 will suck all the air out of the bowl in no time. They will then gasp at the surface until they die. Please keep them in no less then 10 gallons for the night although that is pushing it and will need a 25% water change every day. That will most likely put them into shock.

Please get the right set up asap You don't need a 20 gallon anyways. They will die in it. You should have 60 + gallons, as 5 Fancy Goldfish would need at least 60 gallons. Common and Comet Goldfish are better off in huge ponds ...
