Mysterious African Dwarf Frog Death?
First, I have a 29G fish tank that's completely cycled, heated, filtered.. etc.
1 Male betta fish
5 albino cory cats
6 Glo Fish
6 Long fin Zebra Danios
1 Rhino Pleco
And 2 African dwarf frogs.. welll, 1 now..
Anyways, I've had my frogs in there for about two months they're the newest and last additions, and well I fed them blood worms today, as I do every 2 days, I dropped them in there and walked away, now I can remember the frog floating on top, but I know they like to do that, and the day before I poked him and he moved... anyways today, about 2 hours later, i walked in and found my frog floating on the top but.. i noticed something strange.. It looks (to me) like the fish pecked at its belly.. it was dead and his belly was cut open....
Will fish do this? Is this common?... My other frog is just fine.. I feel really terrible and I need to know if I have to rehome this other frog. I Don't want any other deaths.. but I feel bad because my frogs loved each other.. they were always together...
Although it could have been the fish, it likely was not. African Dwarf Frogs can only be in 20 long aquariums or smaller. They are not good swimmers and the swim to the top in a big aquarium can wear them out or they may not make it. I suggest you get the other one in a 5,10, 15 or 20 long gallon aquarium (or anything in between) so the frog can get to the surface without a fight.

Although your frog expired at the top, he could of been tired and exhausted after the 1 millionth trip. If it was floating around dead, it will then be a target. Be sure to do a 25% water change as dead fish (and frogs=) and make nitrates spike.
