How to grow aquatic plants?
I was wondering how to breed an aquatic plant. Nothing fancy, i just need to know how for simple plants like java fern, Anubias, vallisenera, etc. Do you take some of the old root and stick it somewhere else? I want to buy just one "Grand Mother" plant and in a couple of months have lots of hem!
answer: java fern and anubias can be propagated by cutting their rhizome. the rhizome is the large root on the bottom that all the leaves are attached to. each cut piece will grow into a new plant. vallisneria reproduces by runners (the plant will send out little shoots or daughter plantlets.
also the java fern will produce small daughter plants on the tips of its leaves and the daughter plants will eventually detach.
Some of them depend on the family, some like Amazon sword, will make runners under good conditions, some, like java ferns grow little babies on their leaves that you can pick of when you think they are large enough to plant them. I dont know how to breed grand mother sorry, look up its family (one of the word of its sciencetific name)
You have to buy them.
