Fluval 406 filter making a persistent buzzing noise...?
My Fluval 405 filter that is connected to my turtle tank has begun extremely annoying buzzng. The water is not more than 7 inches from the part where the hoses drape over the side, all levers are completely pushed down, and as it's been activated for months, it should not be from air bubbles. Any suggestions on what to do?
answer: I've had some of my larger canisters make a buzzing when the impeller gets caught up with some slime from the water. Eventually the buildup can make it rub against the plastic housing, causing a buzzing noise. In a turtle tank, it's possible that this buildup might occur more frequently. Try giving the impeller and it's housing a bit of a clean with pipe cleaners and maybe a little bit of pressure washing with water. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
If that doesn't do it, try and listen very carefully where exactly the buzzing noise it coming from. Sometimes it might be a really really fast knocking of a light plastic bit against the tank or housing. Here's hoping that it's just as simple as this, and not a real issue with your filter. I know that feeling of once you hear the buzz, you can't stop hearing it until it's completely gone. The good news is that once you get rid of it, the silence is golden! Cheers,
