My peppered corys just spawned and I have about 130 eggs in an egg tumbler right now. I did nothing special to induce them, they just decided on their own. I was lucky on this one. I have about 20 of them in a 30 breeder with some African pelvicachromis taeniatus (a mild tempered, riverine cichlid about 3.5 inches). I noticed some males chasing a female rather aggressively so I moved the two males and that female to a 10g tank and had eggs by the next day, more the following day.
Here is how I have induced them in the past. Lower the water level in their tank to about 6 inches or whatever keeps your filter running. Feed them good high quality, high protein food for about 2-3 weeks. Every other day give them some frozen bloodworms with their regular food (not too many, they will foul the tank). Watch them closely.

The female will get really fat and and the males will be following her around. Now, remove 50% of the water you have in the tank and refill the tank (to the top) with water that is about 6-8 degrees cooler than the water that is in the tank. They should spawn within one or two days. Typically in the morning. If this doesn't work, try conditioning them a little longer.
The males chase the female around and fertilize the eggs as she holds them in her back fins by her vent. The males form a "T" with the female as she nuzzles at their midsection during the courtship.
Be warned though, the parents will eat the eggs after they spawn if you don't remove either the parents or the eggs.

Why would you put ice in your tank? That just caught my attention ... All I know is that they lay eggs and snails will eat them if they are at all in the tank. Even one snail could eat the eggs up.
