Useful information about guppy and guppy fry?
Hi everyone, can you guys please tell me about raising guppies and guppy fry?

answer:
Keep the water as clean as possible since guppies are actually weak. They were once considered to be the optimal beginners fish due to the fact that they were hardy, but now the guppies do not seem to be as hardy as before. The fry should be fed finely crushed flake food. Guppies are live bearers that most of the time always reproduce. They do have a tendency to eat their offspring so make sure to set up a spare tank or buy a breeders net. The female will be noticeably bigger and should have a darker and bigger gravid spot when pregnant. When about to drop the fry, the female will usually become lethargic and will try to hide from view. Pregnant guppies take app. 28 days to develop before dropping and the same female guppy can have 4-8 batches with a one time insemination. Most guppy fry become fully mature after about 3 months and depending on the color type, red color usually develops earlier than other color. The batch of fry can consist from as little as 10 to as much as 70; however, the more fry dropped, the higher chance of defect, but also a higher chance of survival rate. It is common to have a lot of fry death and sometimes it is advisable to cull some fry due to physical defects . When choosing a mate, the male tends to choose the drabber females and vice versa for no tank habitat reasons, but in the wild it makes sense to do so. The perfect ratio for females to males should be 2 females to every one male and a happy set of 3 can live in a 10 gallon tank. guppies are enjoyable to raise, but can be taxing when trying to do so in the beginning. hope this helped.
