Keep on eye on it, I had a sick tetra that was doing that. it was an x-ray tetra, And because they are see-through, I was able to tell that he had blood in his gills . Evan though at the fish store it looked pefectly healthy because of the different lighting. use a flash light and check its gills, see if they are normal looking or very red. if they are very red, it could be a sign of septicemia, which is what my fish had, and it is contagious. But it could also be ammonia burns, which is not contagious, but it would likely have affected all the fish in the same tank that you bought him from. Though it could have been taken from one tank in the store or at the breeders, and added to another. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Also check to see if they are fighting, red minors AKA Serpae tetras are semi aggressive, and get more agressive when stressed, he might have been picked on by other at the store, or he might have been picked on by the others in the new tank, as aggressive fish get more aggressive when they are not in proper size schools. It is best never to add more than 3 fish every several days or even longer to a tank, But it can still cause stress for fish, hopefully thats all it is and they will be fine once they settle in, good luck

it breathes and then jumps up? like out of the water? realisticly theres nothing you can do anyways about it. he could just be acting odd because of the new tank or because he was already sick when you bought him. most stores have a grace period where you can return the dead fish for an exchange, just keep your reciept. the only realistic advice that unless you want to take him to the fish doctor to get checked out, youll just have to keep you fingers crossed and give him a few days and see how hes doing. good luck
