help!!! my goldfish has died i went to school and he was fine and when i got home he was dead. when i pulled him out of the tank he had white/no scales on 1 side of his body but the other side looked fine. i allways keep my pH level on 6.8 to 7.0 I just dont know what went wrong ... please help i need urgent answers !!!!!

Are there any other fish in the tank? Is the tank big enough? How old was he? Goldfish require more room and more work than most fish due to them producing a lot more waste than most fish. Most people say each goldfish needs at least 10gallons (thats per goldfish) ... If the tank was smaller than that, his body would only grow as big as the tank would let him, but his internal organs and tissues would continue to grow.

If your tank was the right size, did you test the water? Was it room temperature? Was there any ammonia or nitrates in the water? (both are toxic and kill fish) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Could he have gotten a disease? Another fish attack him?

sound like ick! gold fish get that and it kills them! don't add fish to that tank until you bleach it out if no fish is in it! I don't recall why they get it but sometimes they get from other fish that have it and if you buy fish and keep adding them to your tank you can infect your fish you already have with ick. lost a alot of fish one time from ick. and so i went for years without getting more goldfish cause they are so hard to take care of and get sick and die and so money wasted to. i had bought one fish at the pet store and not knowing it was sick so it gave all the other fish the ick it had to. you can look it up about ick and there is medicine for it but i tryed it back then and it didn't work! I have 3 gold fish now but i won't buy anymore as i don't want to chance it in them getting sick from a new fish so i leave well enough alone and Just keep what i have. but i do have another tank with tetra's they are easy to care for so you might wanna get tetra's next time they don't get ick. as i know of and mine never have and ive had them along time.
