My catfish aint moving like he used to?
i bought a little cat fish on thursday he has been moving round tank loads but today he is just laying on bottom of tank still breathing just wont move anywhere im worried what could be wrong with him
answer:
Did you remember to de-chlorinate the water? You probably did, or the fish wouldn't still be alive.

Most likely, the problem is with your water...too much fish waste and too little good bacteria.

If you just set up your fishtank, then your nitrate and ammonia levels will undoubtedly be very high. Fish don't do well in that situation. It takes at least two months to get good bacteria well-established in the fish tank. These good bacteria help neutralize the nitrates from the fish waste in the water. You can do five things...(1) go buy some good bacteria to add to the tank, (2) cut back on the amount that you are feeding him, and (3) make sure that you have the water adequately heated for that species of catfish (4) add some Pimafix to the water...it's an all natural antifungal fish remedy made by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and (5) test your nitrate and ammonia levels in your water.
Perhaps the water needs to be oxygenated with an air pump.
Just remember to clean the tank, and maybe if you don't have any little plants or tunnels in there you could and it might make the fish happier and not feeling so trapped, also he could be originally from the wild like my pet mouse who did the same type of thing because he knew he was trapped and liked the freedom.
aint aint a word so i aint gonna use it cause it aint in the dictoinary
