If Spaying Dogs is Good for Population Decrease, Why Don't We Do It to Humans?
I'm a bit curious here. If Spaying and Neutering dogs is good for decreasing the population and stopping diseases and such, why don't we do it to humans? There are many rape victims who had the baby of their rapist, orphaned children, and stupid teenage girls that got pregnant during high school *consensually, don't lecture me*. Because spaying dogs is so "good", why don't we get fixed and decrease the human-overpopulated world?
answer:
Lol...as someone who just got "fixed" I feel I am qualified to answer. :) I just had my 3rd child through an "accident" and as I am not prepared to add any more children to my home, I chose to have them "close up the shop" while they performed c-section #3. As someone who has gotten pregnant 4 times on birth control, I felt it was the responsible and reasonable thing to do....and I am married, own my own home, and have a job to provide for the children I have...so if I can do it, so can others. But it was my choice.

The reason is that humans are not dogs. In general, humans can take care of themselves without the assistance of others. Yes, I know, there are a great many people who have child after child and mooch off of the rest of the population. I'm just speaking in general. Humans have the right to bear children and animals, IMO, do not need to be allowed that "right". My opinion is that an animal has rights, but those are basic. They have the right to live in an appropriate home, be well-cared for and loved by their humans, fed, watered, exercised, petted, brushed, brought in for veterinary care, etc. These rights are not the same as the ones granted to humans.

While I agree with out in theory...there are some people who have no business owning a dog...let alone having baby...unfortunately I think it is something that will never change.

@Dd~ Good point...I got married when I was 18 and had a baby. I had no business doing so BUT it made me grow up and be responsible. It is up to the individual person to make that choice for themselves. 5d2d.com Pets Questions and AnswersPets Questions and Answers

And if someone wants to have 10 kids, as long as they take care of them properly, it isn't my place to tell them that they can't.
Hmmm .... don't tempt me to reply ......... sometimes I would like to be more selective with human breeding !!!!

When I see young girls deliberately having babies just to stay on our very generous social payouts that us taxpayers fork out for.... then you have a point..
because dogs aren't humans.

I personally think humans should practice a little self control and at least try to stop overpopulation the earth, but that is probably not going to happen. Most people don't know what true self control is, anyway.

Besides, if all people were spayed, than we'd go extinct. But if not all people were spayed, there will still be accidental pregnancies. So your point means nothing.

@ Kaka, that means nothing. People need SPACE just as much as any animal. Deer are overpopulated, and I bet you could fit them all into an even smaller space, doesn't mean they aren't having a negative effect on the ecosystem due to their numbers. copyright 5d2d.comPets Questions and Answers

ADD: I personally gave Gabbie a TD because she is implying that the rights of one person are not equal to another. She says people who have too many kids and mooch should be stopped from having them, and yet is completely against the gov't telling HER what to do. A bit hypocritical, if you ask me. I know how annoying it is when people hound you with thumbs down and don't have the guts to tell you why, so that is why I. Give me thumbs down if you want.
Because the whole "personal rights" would come into play. What if someone came up to you and told you that you had to do that? How would you feel? It isn't right. It goes against all our morals and ethics. A long time ago the government secretly started sterilizing the physically and mentally handicapped. That is what we, America, did and then we inspired Hitler to go along with his plan. I'm not over exaggerating, that's what happened.
*snorts* Oh I don't know for the simple fact we as humans have for the most part 100% control over whether or not we reproduce. We have access to birth control in many forms, morning after pills and abortions. 5d2d.comPets Questions and Answers

DOGS and other animals on the other hand reproduce because instinct tells them too nothing more.

Orphaned children don't count simply for the fact they are usually orphans for reasons BEYOND their control unlike rape victims and teens who have plenty of choice in the matter NOT to carry to term or even get pregnant at all.
