How long to wait until I wash my dog?
OK so I just used some Flea and Tick Powder on my dog, and now I want to wash him. Does anyone know how long do I have to wait until I can wash him, or can I just wash him right away? And I just thought about it, but it might be better to wash my dog before applying the powder? This is my first time using powder so I was just wondering.
answer: my advice will probably not be what you want to hear, but i wouldn't use that stuff AT ALL, especially if it contains permethrins or pyrethrins (most do). they are neurotoxic.
better to get food-grade diatomaceous earth - also known as "fossil shell flour" - and work ti through the dog's fur down to the skin and also into any soft surface (carpet, pet bed, couch he lies on, etc) and cracks and crevices (baseboards, between floorboards, etc). it's not immediate but it does kill the adult fleas (doesn't do anything about larvae, however, but if you kill enough fleas, then eventually you'll get rid of the population).

http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/defaq.… If you like to wash your dog,get Flea and Tick shampoo.Wash the powder off with that after a week or so and stick to Shampoo. If you suspect he has fleas buy a flea collar or see vet about another product to suit your lifestyle and your pals.
yeah, you should really wash him and THEN put the powder, but i think you better wait a day or two before washing him so not to wear off the effect of the powder, or consider using a flea and tick collar. ps-check the label on the powder...it should generally be written
Over-the-counter flea and tick stuff ain't worth the effort to use it. If you want to control fleas and ticks, you will HAVE to use something like Frontline*Plus, or Advantix. The other stuff is pure junk. With the Advantix or Frontline*Plus, you need to bathe the dogs and wait at least two days (3 is better) before you apply the flea preventative. After it's been on for a week, it is safe to bathe the dog without loss of effectiveness. The OTC stuff doesn't penetrate the skin, it just lays in the fur. If the dog gets wet, the powder is gone. Course it wouldn't matter anyway, it's no good. Fleas and ticks are major problems for dogs and they need to be treated year round to keep down infestations.
