Is it bad for cats to stay in one room let me explain...?
Ok so myself n my husband r experiencing very hard times And may hav to move bac in wit my parents for a couple months just until we have jobs with our degrees that we will hav in august..the question is. we hav two cats a year old tht we cant get rid of they truely are my babies but my mother is allergic. how bad would it be if they stayed in one room full of their toys n litter box n so on and we have a penn outside the let them out in occasionally...this would only be for three months max i have harnessess n leashes to walk the also every day? please i am not trying to be cruel i love my babies i am trying any way i can to keep them with me i need them! please help with any ideas!!!!
answer: It will be fine. It's much better than sending them off to be boarded in a cat hotel situation. If the room has a window so that they get natural light, and a ledge where they can sit and watch the outside, that's even better. If you could possibly give them a view of a bird bath or a bird feeder, then that will be just like cat TV. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Since you are planning on taking them out for walks, and will be spending time with them each day, they will adjust because YOU are there. You are their anchor, and they will be fine. You may find that they meow when you leave, but, they will get used to it.
They may get a little stressed by this, so I would suggest that you spend time grooming them each day to deal with any over shedding.
This is a much better solution than giving them away, and don't let anyone talk you into doing that. It sounds as though you are doing the very best that you can to plan how to deal with the transition. Good luck to you and your husband with your new jobs.

Once had two cats in a very small one-bedroom basement apartment, and we all survived.
All cats do is sleep all day anyway. I have 3 cats and its like I see them sleeping on my bed and then every time I go in there through out the day, they are sleeping in the exact same spot!! Just think, its only for a few months, definitely don't get rid of them, its completely fine.
Kato's answer is definitely what I wanted to say. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Just don't get rid of them. Shelter pets are destroyed too quickly.
Best wishes and good luck on your job search!

Well in a shelter they might be put in a cage or a small room with a bunch of other cats. I think it's better to stay with you. Is it ideal? NO. But what the hell else you going to do?
sounds like better accomadations than most shelters would keep them in. They will be fine. Just make sure you go in and visit them enough so they don't miss you too much.
I think if you get a shed built outside with an enclosure round it (not open at the top though)
This way your cats can stay outside all the time and you dont need to worry about your mum being allergic, as its outside, and I think allergies dont take as much affect outside. This is not an ideal situation, as your cat cannot hunt, but if you leave treats hidden in the enclosure it could make things more fun for your cat, as well as all the toys (put them in th shed thingy if they are not waterprood) and put the litterbox in the shed too. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
This is my idea, I say close the top because cats can climb. I saw something like this at a cattery. It was outside and had a special heated cat shed with bedding and stuff in. You could have a bigger version of this. Again, it is not ideal as a permanent home.
