Why is there always a cat outside my window at nite looking

I've been living in my house for almost 8 years now. I swear this cat is always sitting like maybe 10-15 feet away from my window. It's always at night too. The cat does not belong to any of my neighbors either. This is totally creeping me out. Has this ever happened to anyone?
It could be just hungry, maybe you should put food and water out. If you are a cat lover, maybe you could get close enough to see if it has a collar with tags. Then you will know if it belongs to someone or if not maybe you could become its foster mommie.
Suggestions:

Perhaps another cat "in heat" sprayed its attraction fluid outside near your bedroom.

If the cat has been doing it ever since you have lived there, maybe the cat used to live there.

Is your bedroom near the outdoor trash can? Is your bedroom near the kitchen and do you have one of those hoods over the stove which blow out the cooking smells?

Most likely it is something the cat smells that attracts it.
The cat could be hungry and could be making its normal rounds trying to find food. If neighbors are feeding it and he has no real owner, he would stay where the food is. He may be waiting to see if you'll feed him because he's not getting enough nutrition.

Give him a helping hand. Domesticated house cats that are left on the streets have a survival rate of almost nothing unless someone is able to feed them.

It's just a cat. Nothing to be freaked out about.
It might want to be let in. If it doesn't belong to anyone the people who owned the cat may have lived in your house.

Its not uncommon to abandon cats when you move. Sad but true.

Its possible it just wants to come home ...

hes probably a lost cat wanting to find a home, maybe you should bring him in or bring him to a shelter
Maybe you have some cat DNA and your very appealing to this cat.
