My mom used Hartz Flea & Tick drops on my cat and now he's licking it.

Please take your cat to the emergency vet immediately!!! Those over the counter flea products are usually pyrethrin or permethrin based, & both are toxic to cats. It is often fatal to cats, if not treated immediately. It doesn't matter whether or not he licks it, it can still kill him. Take the package of the flea drops with you so that the vet can see exactly what is in them.
Wash your cat with DAWN dish soap immediately. It has to be DAWN, but if you don't have that, wash it with something else, then get DAWN and wash it again. RIGHT NOW
That product is toxic to cats, and your cat will begin to have seizures soon if you do nothing. It doesn't matter whether its licking it or not, its being absorbed through the skin. It may be too late and you may have to take it to the vet.
Hartz is nasty. Please give the cat a bath immediately and watch for any signs of poisoning - change in activity, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. In the future please be sure to use cat drops - Frontline Plus, Advantage are two good brands. And apply them where the cat can't reach them. And throw the Hartz in the trash. Many people have had issues with that brand of flea treatments.
NO - read this - Hartz kills both dogs and cats. You will have a very sick cat or dead cat. Immediately wash the cat in Dawn dishsoap (and I prey its not too late). and get the cat to the emergency vet. He will go into seizures.

NO dog flea stuff is poisonous to cats, it should say so on the box. Phone your vet
