I have decided not to have my Kitten Spayed at this time, is

My parents aren't rich, and we've been hit really hard by this economy thing. I think it's best not to have them fixed right now. But is this a good idea.

- She's 4 months old

- Indoor cat only

I live in Arizona, BTW ...
If you take your kitten to the Humane Society of Arizona. You can get them fixed there. And if you're on Food stamps, or Ahcccs, you get a 30% discount. You will only end up paying $ 17. Have her spayed, it will save you so much trouble down the line ... When a cat goes into heat, she is so miserable.

I've had all my Cats/Dogs Spayed/Neutered at the Arizona Humane Society, and they are so caring and gentle ...
American Popcorn - "in heat" lasts about three weeks; just one or 2 days dealing with female is enough to drive u crazy. Females call out to males; don't think ur safe - one day you open door, and wham - one of your girls gets out. only takes her one day to get preggie with 4 or 5 babes!

Let's just say1 unspayed female can increase (up) to 6 cats in less than six months; if at least one female babe - in heat at 6-7 months (breed makes difference on this age) - then increase to maybe 5 or 6 more,=11-12 cats. Not fixed=more risk of health problems - whether on farm or not.

my cats were desexed at 5months. its best to get her done by 6months other wise the heat will make her berserk then she will be as fast a lighting outside the door in no time which you dont want a non desexed female to do . if you end up having kittens it will be even more expensive for you.
you MUST have them spayed. search around for more inexpensive places.

just think. if you leave your cat unspayed and your kitty gets out (assuming its an indoor cat) it will have endless babies. and that means endless homeless kittens. living in garbage cans. living poor, unhealthy, unloved lives.

the average cat can start producing babies by 6months! live to be an average of 15. carry babies for 2 months. and are in heat monthly. you do the math. endless unhappy kittens and lives!

do the right thing!
Well No it is not a good idea to wait for awhile. She will come into heat and drive you crazy, pretty soon her meowing will be so loud that your parents will get sick of listening to her and toss her out and next thing you know she is having babies .. If that does not happen you will have male cats keeping you awake nights trying to get in to get her .. You say that you don't have a lot of money the economy has hit people very hard. Where do you live in AZ? I live in Yuma. There are programs called Planned Pethood and if you can not afford to get your cat spayed they will do it for free plus give her shots. Now just cause this is all done does not mean that you should turn her into a outside cat. Arizona is famous for coyote. sad but true they eat kitties for lunch. Keep her in with her shots and spayed and you will have her to love for many years .. Good Luck :-)
No your cat is most likely going to be fine:) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I have four cats (three female and one male) and a female golden retriever

My dog Goldie is fixed ... but that's because when she goes outside to do her "thing" she likes to get loose and roam the neighborhood (i live pretty much in the middle of nowhere .. but my neighbors all have dogs)

Todd (male cat) and Tiki (female) are fixed .. but that's because I adopted them that way

but my Button and Cleo (females) aren't and they never will be:) (all four are indoor only)

Since Todd is fixed .. I really have no reason to worry about the Button and Cleo: p

they've really never had health problems (Cleo is 9 ... little Button is only two)

I've honestly never personally known anyone who's cats have had health problems when they never got them fixed ... but I have had friends whose animals have died during getting fixed: (

In my opinion ... I'd rather take the "risk" of not getting my pet fixed so they can live a longer life instead of dieing early from me getting them fixed.

Good luck with your little kitty!!!:)

OH and also ... the whole BS about the "in heat thing" It's really only a few days of loud meowing (and it happens less and less often with age) ... and you honestly get used to it really fast. .. I honestly find it cute now: D

I always pretend yell at my cats and go "you're way too young to have BABIES!!": P
