My cat follows me sometimes and lets me pet her, but how do I get her to let me hold her, cuddle with me, and sleep with me? I have been in my room giving her treats and she's laid down but hasn't stayed on my bed and slept with me. She claws me when I hold her and scratches me so much when I cuddle her. How do I change that?
when i first got my kitty i tried everything to get her to be friendly i think i tried too hard and they dont like that they like to build there trust in you on there own and if you pick her up and are always around it annoys them even though we think were doing the right thing. It sound mean but ignore her trust me it works still feed her and talk to her nicely and every night when you go to bed put her on there with you but if she jumps off leave her she will eventually realize that the bed is the most comfy spot. When i got my kitty it took me about 3 months to get her to come to me and sleep in my bed i would put her on there and 5 mins later she would jump off and she would go sleep in my housemates bed who used to kick her off and totally ignored her and yet she would ALWAYS go to him so i tried the same thing and just ignored her and only every now and then when you walk past kitty pat her gently on the head then just keep walking. Now as soon i go to she bed 2 mins later in she comes and i did exactly what i just told you:) i hope this helps
yes, do not force her but it takes time its not about giving her treats its about showing that youre always there and you can give her whatever she needs whenever she needs it if she comes to you thn stroke her, cats are kind of like people you cant force them to love you when they want you theyll come to you themselves. I adopted my beautiful little tiggy he was living out on the street and was so skinny when i got him and he didnt trust anyone at all but i find that animals and little children always come to me so from the start he would always come to me but not let me stroke him, even nw after many months he doesnt let me touch his belly just bites me, only sometimes
Don; t try to force her into trusting you. She will gradually start too. Give her some time. They eventually love you a lot=]. I adopted two cats from outside. They didn't trust me AT ALL. Then after like 5 months or so we were best friends=].
