I think my cat is underweight?

My cat is 9 months old and I am worried she is underweight. She is healthy (seems it) and incredibly active, very loving. She just went into heat last month and has been in and out fairly regularly (she will be spayed in January ; would have been already, but there was an unexpected financial setback).

I feed her on demand, so she always has food in her bowl and I fill her bowl twice a day, so she eats a lot of food. She also gets a lot of treats (dehydrated whitefish and dried salmon as well as the odd Temptations and some tuna juice). But, she is so thin! She is incredibly lanky, but I am wondering if I should be concerned about her weight ... or if it's just normal.

I have added some links to pictures of her, if you need a visual aide.

Much thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer ... I always choose a best answer and value quality input!

She looks slender in the photos, but not emaciated or outrageously thin. There are some very lanky breeds of cat, so this may just be a sign of her genetic background.

Is her waste normal? Internal parasites, including heart worm, can cause a cat to not absorb calories and put on weight. If you can afford it, you can opt to have a complete blood panel done by the vet that will perform the spay to rule out any organ related dysfunction.

I'd recommend you take your concerns to your vet when you take her in for the surgery, but it doesn't look like she is in any real danger from ill health.
She looks perfect! We are just used to seeing lots of overweight cats. If you start to be able to see her ribs or feel them very easily, she might be getting underweight. But she looks great to me. My cat looks just like yours and she is fully grown and only about 8 or 9 pounds and the vet said she is fine.
My little man looks just like her!! She is gorgeous!! She looks to be the perfect weight to me. You can't see her ribs or backbone. She looks very healthy and happy! i would make sure she stays inside until she gets fixed ... you don't want any unexpected babies or for your kitty to be a teen mom!
she looks find to me.i had 5 kittens and when they were 9 months old and they looked like that. she looks perfectly healthy. she will probably gain more wight when she gets older. your taking great care of her.
