How do you take care of a 4-5 week old kitten?

  My cat abandoned her 4-5 week old kitten. What should I feed her>? How often do I feed her and how do I keep her warm at all times??? Right now im feeding her with a dropper that has milk in it . also I have a blanket around her. she won't eat real cat food yet and she still has blue eyes. do I need to take a wet washcloth and just run it over her?? I really need some help please!!!
* 1 - 3 weeks old - will need to be bottle-fed.

* 3 weeks and older - can be offered soft food, but may need to be bottle-fed.

If the kitten is cold, warm her slowly by holding her against your bare skin, which will allow her to absorb your body's heat (if you are outside, your armpit makes a great incubator). Cold is the greatest danger to kittens. DO NOT submerge the kitten in water or use any method that will warm her temperature too quickly. Because she is not able to generate her own heat, wrapping the kitten in a blanket or towel is not sufficient. The kitten must get her heat from you. DO NOT feed a cold kitten. Wait until her body heat is approximately 90 + degrees Fahrenheit.

Make a kitten box. Put a heating pad in a box big enough to accommodate the heating pad and an area that is not covered by the heating pad. Kittens will crawl toward the heat when they are cold and away from the heat when they are warm . If they do not have an area where they can get away from the heat, they can become dehydrated and die. Turn the heating pad on LOW and cover it with a towel. Never let the kitten lie directly on the pad. Place the box in a warm and draft-free area.

Do not bathe the kitten unless absolutely necessary. If the kitten appears to need a bath, her body temperature must be normal, 90 + degrees Fahrenheit. Flea combing is best if the kitten has fleas. (If the kitten must be bathed, use small amount of Lemon Joy. The citrus kills fleas and is safe for kittens. Flea shampoos are too harsh for kittens.) After towel drying the kitten as much as possible return the kitten to the heating pad. NEVER use a hair dryer.

Feeding Schedule This is a general guideline. A kitten will eat more often or less often, depending on the kitten. The label on the container of kitten formula you purchased should indicate the recommended amount to feed a kitten according to body weight. If a kitten cries, she is either cold or hungry. A contented kitten sleeps quietly. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Age in Weeks/Feedings per day

* 3 weeks old - needs 4 feedings per day

* 4 weeks old - needs 3 feedings per day

Never overfeed a kitten Some kittens will eat and eat as long as food is offered to them. Follow the instructions and guidelines on the container of kitten formula. When the kitten is three to four weeks old, you can begin weaning the kitten with baby food (GERBER Chicken, Turkey or Beef) or canned kitten food.
You can buy milk replacer at stores that carry pet supplies. You can buy it from a vet and ask for their advice. I think its more expensive at a vet. I've seen it at a Runnings fleet and farm
Go e him some milk, give him some food, let him sleep. But mos importantly play with him XD
At this age she should still be having KMR kitten milk . Not people milk, you will cause stomach upset. If she really is 5 weeks she should be ready to drink it out of a small bowl. If she coughs and chokes, meaning she is inhaling it through her nostrils, then you still need the dropper or syringe. You can give her as much as the KMR container says per day. She should be feed still 4 or 5 times a day, but should be old enough you can sleep through the night. You can try canned kitten food a tablespoon or two depending on how much milk she is drinking. You can even add the milk to the canned food to make it soupier if she will lap it up. At 5 or 6 weeks she should be able to eat dry if you want her to have that. Just leave that down so she will learn to eat when she wants. Petsmart sells RC babycat and RC Kitten. At her age I would do RC babycat. It is tiny little pieces. She should be able to poop on her own if she is 4 weeks old. If she has trouble you have to rub her tushy with a finger or a warm moist cloth to stimulate her muscles to go. Not right after eating, she wont be digested then. You can take aa warm wet cloth and wipe her down once a day. She should start cleaning herself at 6 or 7 weeks. I would keep her in one room for now unless you are with her, so she doesnt get loose and lost in the house. At eight weeks you should be able to do just water and food. You cant leave the KMR milk out long either.
?) Take the kitten to a veterinarian to make sure no medical intervention is needed. Whether the baby kitten was abandoned, or the mother died, it is imperative that you get the kitten to a doctor so that it can be examined for problems such as dehydration. If the veterinarian approves, take the kitten home.

Set up a bed for the kitten using a cardboard box, old towels and a heating pad. Wrap the heating pad in a towel or two and place it in the bottom of a cardboard box. Bunch up another towel or rag, and place it in a corner for a bed. You may also want to consider putting a stuffed animal in the box for the kitten to cuddle with, as they are used to being close to other kittens or their mother. Place the heating pad on low, as newborn kittens are not able to regulate their temperature until around 8 weeks of age.
