Can a mother cat give birth to more kittens days or weeks la

The reason I am asking is that I took in a few weeks ago a skinny pregnant cat and she recently gave birth 3 kittens. One was stillborn and the other are strong and healthy. I've been used to seeing poor cats knocked up and have the kittens and become quite skinny. This one still has a bony spine but her abdomen almost looks like she may have other kittens but there are no strange lumps. Is it possible that she may have some delayed kittens that are not ready yet or is because she only had 3 kittens that she is still in good shape?
Only once has one of my cats given birth on two different days, one day she had 4 healthy males and just over 24 hours later she gave birth to a healthy female . If something happened and she still has stillborn kittens inside her, you need to get her to the vet ASAP.
Once the kittens are out, no more will come. 3 or 4 is the normal number of kittens in a litter. If her belly is still distended she is probably filled up with worms and needs to see a vet to get dewormed. She may also have something else going on like a kitten stuck in the birth canal, which could kill the cat. My suggestion is to take her to the vet.
No - she should be taken to the vet and spayed. If she has any retained kittens they are dead by now and they can poison and kill her. She needs a lot of medical care and fast.
she probally did have delayed kittens but they are almost certainly dead bring the mother to get a check up and tell the vet your concerns
My cat recently had 3 kittens and I was told by my vet that unlike humans cats can take a break during labor. Nice huh? What she said was that she could delay birthing more kittens for up to 24 hours, or possibly a little longer, and that we should keep an eye on her just in case. Sure enough she had 2 kittens within 20 minutes of each other (3 actually. One was stillborn and so small we almost didn't recognize it as a kitten), then moved the 2 squirming kittens to another location where we could not see very well, and several (3 to 5) hours later she had another kitten. This was her second litter. Her first litter, which was just over a year ago, she had 4 kittens and became so thin after-wards that we were concerned. Once she stopped nursing she gained her weight back. This time she has lost none of her normal weight and looks just like she did before pregnancy. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

So ... you said "recently gave birth" and I'm not sure how recent that is. If you are concerned and it has been more that 28 hours since she began birthing kittens, then I agree with the other responders. She should be checked out by a vet. Usually a simple check-up does not cost that much, and really, especially if you have other pets, she really should get the "all clear" by a vet. Besides, if she was a stray and pregnant she and the kittens may have worms. They probably do in fact. If you took her in then you must care. If you can't afford the vet care just tell the vet that. They will either reduce their prices or tell you where you can go to get the help you need.

Thanks for caring enough to help.
