I don't know you or anything about you so I don't know if you should get an Exotic Shorthair. If you "know all about them", you should be able to make an educated decision as to whether or not one will fit into your life.

no matter what, with the right luck and a smart cat, she will be able to live.

Why does the opionion of strangers matter? And what does living in the country have to do with getting an Exotic Shorthair? Are you intending to allow the cat to free roam? Any breeder you buy a kitten or cat from or any shelter you adopt an adult cat from will REQUIRE that you keep the cat indoors.

Exotics are VERY sweet cats. I have one I adopted from a shelter when she was four years and is the sweetest, most loving cat I've ever known. Bonded to me instantly.

Why not check shelters to see if they have adult Exotic you could adopt? You'll only find kittens at a breeder but they do show up as adults at shelters occasionally.
