My cat hides from me in the daytime but at night he's always wanting to be petted and comes in my room. Never does he do that in the day.

well I'm not so sure as cats behaviors are very mysterious. I used to have a cat who did that and would always be with me durin the night,then hiding in the morning somewhere, tending to avoid me. I wouldn't worry and should not question this because cats are secretive and mysterious creatures

Your cat probably sleeps all day. At night he wakes up and wants attention.
