Gato is a perfect name for your cat. It means cat in Spanish. Ham is another good name.

Ha! I looked on the internet for a week before I figured out a name for my cat, Twinkie. I never have seen that name anywhere. Like Twinkle, twinkle, little star. I actually named him because he is dark yellow/orange on the (out)side, and white on the (in)side like a twinkie. His six week picture is my profile pic.
Other names I considered: Licorice, Butterscotch, Buttercup, and Ginger. The last cat I had was originally named Whiskers because he had really long white whiskers, but I kept yelling "You little stinker!" at him when he would get into trouble (imagine that! haha) So that name stuck. And when it was time for him to come in from outside, I'd yell "Stinker!" a couple of times out the back door & he came running. I always wondered what my neighbors thought.

Well, it depends on what sex your cat is? Um-mm, how about some rock n roll, blues, or jazz names. Like Muddy Waters, Fats Domino, Dizzy Gillespie or Etta James. Or after a old movie star, like Erin Flynn, Marilyn Monroe? What subjects do you like? Pick one you really like, maybe a TV personality. Just remember the name will probably get shorten over time. We all affectionately butcher our pets names with time.

I have three Abyssinia's and they names are, ruddy, Demitasse; a blue, who is Tin Lizzy, and a fawn named Jackie [because she only has one eye - you know like a one-eyed Jack.] A blue male named Rorschach, like the ink blots they use to psychologically test people.

I also have one calico Manx, her name is Novelette - means a small tight book. It's what the use to call dime western novels.
