What does my cat want?

I have two cats, Boo Boo (1 year old male) and Gordis (6 y/o female). Sometimes Boo Boo stays at my dad's house for a few days because he loves to explore outside and he can't do that at my house-its an apartment. Plus, my dad loves him and he is retired. Usually Gordis is standoffish. She has always been like that. But when Boo Boo isn't home, she is extremely friendly, vocal, and even sleeps on the bed with me. Sometimes in the kitchen, she just looks up at me and meows. I give her new food and water, but it's not what she wants. Then she follows me around meowing. What does she need?? She doesn't really meow much when Boo Boo is home. I leave at 7 am and get home around 6 pm and no one is home when I'm gone.
Sounds like Gordis is lonely when Boo Boo is at your dad's house. She's gotten used to having him there while you're gone, and she misses the companionship, especially when BOTH of you are gone. Have you considered getting her another playmate? If you got another (neutered) male to stay with Gordis, Boo Boo can stay with your dad permanently! Sounds like that's what he would prefer, anyway.

You didn't say if either or both are spayed/neutered. But, if Boo Boo is NOT neutered, it's very dangerous to his health to be exploring outside. He can get into fights with other cats and get hurt, not to mention fathering "accidental" litters of kittens.

So ......... IF you can AFFORD the extra vet care, go to your nearest shelter and see if you can find a neutered male around the same age as Boo Boo, and adopt him as a companion for Gordis. ... I'm sure she'd be happy to have someone at home with her in the daytime ..........

Hope this helps ......... Good luck.
She wants your attention and affection. Sounds like she has to kinda compete with Boo Boo. Just love her and cuddle her - if she's a cuddly cat. Cats are usually fine by themselves but if they are used to having a buddy during the day, she might just be a little lonely.
She could want more attention, or a different kind of food than the one you give her, or she misses Boo Boo.
