How to get a cat to stop meowing?

My cat has suddenly, after being relatively quiet all her life, begun to meow constantly. I know she is not sick because she stops meowing after she gets what she wants (food petting etc). I tried using a water bottle to get her to stop which made her stop during the night but not during the day. Now I am trying the "ignore" technique but it is hard to not give in eventually because I can't simply not feed her, she will die before she stops meowing . And people warm not to not give her attention, but she won't stop meowing long enough for me to show her that when she is quiet she gets attention. What do I do?
You cannot. Either accept or get rid of her.
Either

1. She's actually in pain. In which case, get her to a vet asap.

2. She's in heat? In which case, get her to a vet asap.

Food and petting will tempt/temporarily relieve any cat even if it's in pain.

But what you're describing is not normal cat behavior, something's up.

Had same thing happen to my friend's cat, took him to the vet and found he had a urinary disease.
If your cat's behaviour, habits, or energy level suddenly changes, that should alert/alarm you. It's usually a very good indication that your cat needs medical attention.

It's very hard to know if a cat is sick, they hide symptoms extremely well.
@ Taylor, yea but they have the ability to do something much more anoying, aka barking ...
Get a dog, they are better and dont have the ability to meow.
first find out if peanut butter is bad for cats ...... if it's not, then fill her mouth with peanut butter x]
My mom uses water mixed with vinegar (not much, just enough to get the smell) in a squirt bottle, because they (and me) hate the smell, so maybe that will make more of an impact? Is she strictly and inside cat? If not, you could try putting her outside when she gets loud. If not, maybe shut her up in another room. When mine do that, and won't shut up, I try going "Shhhhh!" really loud which sometimes startles them out of it, and if that doesn't work I pick them up and kind of gently hold their mouth shut while still saying "shhh ".... holding their mouth shut probably doesn't really help but it makes me feel better. hehehe. Seems , though, that they understand "shh" to mean shut the f *** up if you wanna stay in here.
