small cats pregnancy?

My cat was the runt of her litter and is still pretty small, she recently got outside despite our attempts to keep her inside and we believe she is pregnant now. One of my friends said that she will most likely die when she gives birth because she is so little is this true?
Take her to the vet, to get her some help. Good Luck!

@ Café Mocha Valencia-Forgive me a minute, but I am confused. When did you become the moderator of all things feline. You go around this forum bashing people just because they haven't gotten they're cats Spayed/Neutered. It's not your place to tell anyone to do anything they don't want to do. Just BACK OFF!
It's not possible to tell you that if your small cat carries the pregnancy to term, she will definitely die or that all will definitely go well .. Maybe that could make your decision easier about ending the pregnancy. but unfortunately you don't have that "luxury" ..

It IS possible that her life could be at risk unless saved by a timely emergency c-section. Since she got loose and mated, you probably don't know the size of the tomcat (s) who sired her litter, which influences the size of the kittens .. Your ability to pay for a c-section is a factor you truly need to consider. and that could get very expensive, many times more than a spay/abortion at the price you mentioned.

And that really might not cost 300. Go to the ASPCA website, they have a database of low cost spay/neuter clinics, you can look for something in your area and check what the price would be.

It's not like it costs nothing to raise kittens either. The mother needs to be on good quality food, preferably wet food either premium food for "all life stages" or kitten food, and when nursing she might eat 4 times her usual amount. Then the kittens start eating and her food needs gradually diminish but theirs increase. If you are at all responsible you will keep them at least 10 weeks and preferably 12 or 14, and get them at least the first 2 kitten shots. to really be responsible they should be spayed/neutered before going to new homes so they don't end up adding even more to the population.
Your cat will probably be fine. I have a small cat myself; she gave birth to a litter of four earlier this year. I was worried about her too, she only weighs about six pounds. But she is just fine, she didn't have any trouble at all. It definitely wouldn't hurt to look up cat labor and delivery, though - study it, get familiar with the process, watch some live kitten births on Youtube. It'll help prepare you for what's to come, and you'll be able to spot any problems if any arise. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Good luck!
It's not a certainty, but it IS a possibility. I would see if a vet could monitor it or something. Although, that would most likely be pretty costly.: \ I'm very sorry, but I hope all goes well.
I would take her to the vet and see what the vet says. i don, t think she is going to die but take her to the vet to make shure she is ok giving birth or to see if she is pregnant.

hope your cat is ok.
My cat barely weighed 6 lbs and she gave birth to 4 large kittens. She's a miniature cat and she's fine. Her belly did drag the ground though.
She needs to see a vet. No one online can analyze this for you. Your just getting their opinions. Take her to the vet. And I pray she will be ok.

Take care!!!

Edit: I don't agree with Café Mocha Valencia, mainly because she has the tact of a cobra. But your cat DOES need to see the Vet. Unless you know what you're doing. I'ma Vet-Tech, and I know that small cats don't do well if they have kittens, in fact they usually get very sick, and then have to be put to sleep. At the end of the day, it's your decision, no one else's, not even Café Mocha Valencia's. But I would urge you to get the cat looked at by a professional. Do what's best for the cat. Take care ... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

PS, Thumbs down all you want, but this is the truth ...
She might need a ceasarian section, or she could die if you try and let her give birth herself
could be, depends ... on whether she is pregnant .. go get her fixed ... and have the pregnancy terminated
YES - very possible. Take her to the vet TOMORROW and get her spayed. Why had you not had that done?

edit: Why do you "not feel right" terminating the pregnancy? If you let this cat have kittens then the kittens people didn't adopt cause they took yours instead will be killed. So either way - kittens WILL die because of YOU. Why does your young cat's kittens - who may kill her during birth and/or be stillborn - have more a right to life than the shelter animals? If you're saying this because you're a holy rolling "right to lifer" well keep those views out of the pet overpopulation problem.

edit2: LOL! Such great logic "I have 2 people already said they would love 1 of her kittens and they weren't in the market for an animal so not really taking any other animals chance to be adopted now am I" They ' re still not adopting - they're taking YOUR cats - so those shelter animals WILL die. Wow. You are beyond comprehending this, aren't you?
