how do i get my kitten to behave?

me and my boyfriend got a kitten from a friend and she found them outside her house and we took him home about 3 months ago and at first he was quiet and now hes a little terror ... for the past 2 months his behavior has only worsened .. when we get home he purrs and is all cute but then like 5 minutes later he will start attacking and biting and scratching non stop. every time we try to pet him or hold him he just bites and claws us what do i do ? the squirt bottle wont stop him
Ha ha your kitten sounds like my three little kittens. They're everywhere of the house. Knocking down flower pots and flower vases. I yell at them and they would stop but a minute passes by they back at it again. My kittens are found outside too. They don't bite me; but they keep biting on my mom's toes and her foot. It doesn't hurt that much; but I know it can get annoying. Me, I play rough with my kittens and I flip them upside down and stuff. I don't know if I am helping or making the matter worse?

Advice: buy him or her one of those claw things and some catnip that should keep them to calm down.
Your kitten is going thru the most rambunctious time of his life right now. If he has no other playmate beside you two then he is going to try to play with you like he would another kitten. Get him a cat tree to climb if you haven't already and a bunch of toys, probably just those inexpensive crinkle balls and fake mice will do, cause he will go thru a lot of them. Getting him neutered will help in the long run also. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Considering he was found outside, he could be a kitten born to ferral cats, and that wild instinct runs deep, but with proper, constant, training and lots of love, he could turn out to be the best cat you'll ever own.

Don't give up on him.

* I agree with everything in the answer above also.
Are you letting him see the squirt bottle? That is bad because once you get it out they immediately run. Is he neutered? This can cause big behavioral issues. My cat was exactly like that and she almost tore out my brothers eye when he was sleeping. Even though people put up a big fuss about declawing sometimes its the most humane thing to do in this situation. But I would use that as a last resort. But my idea is that maybe you don't have him neutered? It's usually a territorial issue if he's not. Hope this helps!
you could hire a cat trainer, it could e because it was left alone from birth, had to defend for it's self and had to fight for food or something
Use a squirt bottle, but put a splash on vinegar in it ... it worked for my wild kitty ... and they learn over time ... get the kitty some toys also ...
Forget the squirt bottle, he is just being a kitten. Kittens are meant to bite, scratch, rip up the carpet, tear the curtains, smash anything in the house that is breakable, steal food, refuse cat food, throw up on your feet while you are eating, and just generally be a kitten!

He is trying to play with you as though you are another kitten, so get him other things to play with. He is probably bored. Does he have a scatching post? Much better he use his claws on a scratching post than on you. Our cats love the ones with platforms and hidey-holes and dangly string balls to play with. Also a bag of organic catnip (organic is more expensive, but will last literally years longer), maybe a tennis ball, some string or ribbon for you to drag around for him. Make sure you don't leave the string out when you have finished playing - cats can eat this and it can kill them. There are also those little plastic balls with bells inside for cats to knock around and our cats love batting plastic bottle tops around.

Make sure he is too busy to have time to scratch you!
