Yes, but not as their sole source of food. If the cat happens to eat the dog's food it won't kill him, but it is not "balanced" for the special dietary needs of the feline.
Me ... kittyslave23 ... I know my place.
Of course they can - they just can't live on it for very long. Cat require certain chemicals and enzymes that they are incapable of manufacturing in their own bodies like most other mammals. These chemicals are obtained from raw meat or commercial cat food. These chemicals are not added to dog food.
Without the one - taurine - the cat will eventually shut down, go blind, and die.
Long term no. Cats would not get the right amount of nutrition and nutritional value. They also would not receive enough amino acids. If you 're out of cat food or something and have dog food, one meal of dog food would be ok but long term it's a very bad idea.
NO ... well it can eat the dog food, but it will get sick very fast ..
it contains not enough protein and special fatty acids, and certain oils for a cat.

Dogs need less of these things and therefor their food has less of them.
Your cat might also puke because its harder to digest dog food for a cat.
**** All those people who said otherwise all their cats are probably dying and sick.
don't give your cat dog food.
YEA
yes, my cats love dog food. But, when i asked a vet I was told: they should not ONLY eat dog food because cat food contains an extra amino acid that is required in a cats diet that is not in dog food.
NO. It lacks the nutrients they need and they will go blind.
Now unless you want a blind cat running around the house, I would stick to cat food.
Most likely, because dogs can eat catfood. Also, dogs and cats can eat & digest mostly the same type of food. (But it's better if you fed your cat catfood)
Sure, but a vet will tell you dog food doesn't have enough protein for a cats needs
if u starve them they will eat anything
wow such a dumb question
