He is 4 months old and has been using the litter box and going outside until about 4 days ago. Now he is pooping in the living room, bedroom and on the golf bag???
Cats do their business outside the litter box when they are either: in pain caused by infection, marking their territory if another animal has invaded, or if they are upset with the type of litter or the condition of the litter being unclean. Take him to the vet for a quick checkup .. it will prevent much worse problems if it's an infection or any behavior issues. Good luck!
Usually it's because something is wrong with the litter. Clean it and show it to the kitten again. Consider ALSO moving it out of the way.
He may be sick, bring him to the vet.
