i recently got a 3 year old cat, i was using fresh steps for the litter and the first day he pooped and peed in it, a couple days passed and he was still peeing in it but i noticed poop in the corner of my room so i thought eh, accidents happen, until the next day there it was again in the same spot and this morning i saw that he peed on my floor, my friend suggested me moving the little box where he was pooping since my room is his " safe haven ". so i moved it and cleaned it and showed him where it was, i put him in it and he ran out and immediately pooped on the carpet in a different spot in my room. they thought he might not like the litter so i changed it tonight, still waiting to see what happens but just curious to know what i should do if this doesn't work. i plan to take him to the vet for a check up soon but in the meantime i wanna try and see if i can fix the problem.
When you pick up the poop did you put it in litter box?
That what I did to my cat, when my cat poop in the corner I picked it up and put it in the litter box and she went and smelled her own poop and felt safe again to poop in the litter box.

Just a suggestion:)
Best of luck:)
My cat is 7, and when we got a new litter box, we found poop in corners, and I eventually took the lid off the box and she now uses it without any problems, we put the lid back on and she would not go in, the new box was a dark blue and therefore darker inside, strange animals, cats, but I would not be without her.
My cat did the same thing I also noticed he had a tinge of pink in his pee. I went to the vet she said that he has a bladder problem. I would suggest look at the cats pee if its pink got to the vet as soon as you can. If not then just ask a vet they should know.
Are you using any scented fresheners on the litter? If yes, some cats do not like perfumed products.
