how can I get my new cat to like my husband?

I have a new cat that is about 3 or four years old she was a stray.

She follows me around all day and sits on my lap all the time.

she is good with my 5 year son but does not seem to like my husband at all.

I don't know much about her history other than no one was taking care of her and she needed to see a vet. My husband is a calm laid back guy so .... what gives? She seems to like every one else.
Does your husband ever feed her? You might try having your husband start feeding her. Put her food in the bowl, sit a few feet away and talk to her in soothing tones as she eats. Eventually she will start letting him pet her. You may also try to get some interactive toys for him to play with her like a laser toy or a feather wand.

Because she was a stray, she may always be cautious around people. It is possible that she was abused by a man but doesn't associate your son with a "man" because he is so much smaller. Often strays tend to associate with one primary person because of something that happened in their past that we will never know about, so she may never be a lap cat with your husband.

Some breeds have a tendency to be one person cats. Since you don't know her history, there is a chance she has one of these breeds in her ancestry that tends that makes her tend to be a one person cat.
To get your cat to like him you could rub something with his scent where ever it sleeps so it gets used to that eventually and then the cat should react positively to your husband since he smells the same as the cat's sleeping place
Yep, I 'd go with the feeding and giving treats. Cat's loyalties can be bought with good food, and food is usually the deciding factor to cats living with other cats in the wild.
Have your husband feed her, and give her treats like diced cooked chicken. Love CAN be bought!
