This is happening to my one and a half year old tabby cat. I just noticed it an hour ago and I thought he got into something in the house so I cleaned his mouth but when I looked again a little later there was a big glop coming out of his mouth. I opened his mouth and it was covered in this thick, smelly mucus like substance and the back and the middle of his tongue is white. Also his nose is leaking it too expect it is a light red color. I will take him to the vet in the morning but I just want to know if anyone knows what it could be.
Other than that problem he is acting a little sluggish but still comes when he is called and is still active and vocal.
Is your kitty current on his shots?
To me it sounds like calicivirus, although typically cats are vaccinated against it in their core vaccines. It can cause mouth ulcers and pneumonia. Deadly stuff if not seen by a vet, so your decision to bring him in first thing in the morning is a good one.
Good luck, I really hope he's feeling better soon!
Odor may indicate infection, light red color is blood, Could be a sinus infection. Call an emergency vet and ask if they think it would be ok to wait until tomorrow.
It's possible it's a dental abscess, or a GI problem, or a respiratory problem ...

It's a good thing you're taking him to a vet.
