Is he missing something? He has water available all the time.
If it's a new habit it's worth calling the vet and asking. If he's always done this and he eats a nutritionally complete diet, I would not worry as much. My dog did this when she had pancreatitis, though. That's why I would urge you to ask your vet.
I have heard that anemic cats sometimes lick the floor or eat kitty litter. Maybe you should bring him/her to the vet to get it checked out. It might be nothing though, could be a little bit senile:) Getting old happens to the best of us
i wish I had the answer to that. My 7 year old cat likes to lick the blinds in my house and chew/lick plastic bags
Perhaps he's going senile?
