How to train a kitten to stay off counters?

I have a 6 month old kitten and he has just learned how to jump on the counters which he thinks it's the best thing in the world! I have tried to spray him with water but he just doesn't care. He ends up all wet and I just end up pushing him off the counter. Is there any thing I can do to make him stay off the counters? thanks so much
I don't know. You'd probably have to push him off all the time , maybe he will learn. My cat does it also but he is allowed. And my cat would LOVE to get sprayed with water. Yeah, I think it's the only way, because you can't always have stuff on the table, it will get messy, and he will jump anyway.

Just push him off and get him his favourite toy and play with him it will distract him.

Hope I helped ...
My grandmother got what is called a "Scat Mat", and it has worked very well with keeping her cats off of the counters. Follow the link below for more information.
Use a spray bottle with water in it ... just squirt the kitty if it gets up on the counter, not a lot ... just a little bit. It works great.
Use a fly swatter on it worked for me
u can put things on the counter that would make his feet feel uncomfortable. like rough plate mats. or sticky things.
