I took in a stray cat a month ago, hoping to train him to be an indoor cat. Since I introduced him to my other cat, the stray has been spraying more and has recently begun peeing on the carpet rather than in his litter box. Getting him to defecate in his box is also a problem. Since he is a stray, he still likes to go outside. I took the cat to the vet and the vet recommended changing the litter to something with a different texture and using Feliway. Unfortunately , those suggestions have not worked. The problem has progressed to the point where I have been shampooing the rug with my steam cleaner very frequently, twice this week. Is there a solution to this problem, or do I need to consider giving him up?
A general rule of thumb for handling such an issue in a multi-cat household is to have one litter box per cat, plus one extra, in the house. While this can often be an difficult option to maintain, it's one of the only ways to guarantee that each cat has a space they are comfortable using (without having to share) for urination/defecation.
I have had a male cat who hadn't been fixed who was also from the wild. We would always find things like blankets that smelled like pee and it became uncontrollable. So we had to put him outside where he could pee in peace. I don't think there's a way to fix this problem, it's just what they do.
Your cat is very stressed right Now you should see A vet and ask what u can do to stop him from being stressed
take it outside
