Think my cat is reacting badly to flea treatment?
i just put flea treatment on all three of my cats tonight cos i noticed a flea on one of them. i used revolution which is a liquid that goes on the back of the neck and i have used it on them quite a few times before with no bad reactions. but just now, one of them (male/desexed/4years old) started coughing. i think he was grooming himself then he started coughing like he was gonna cough up a furball which he never does. is this something to do with the flea treatment? should i be concerned? i need to go to bed but worried i should keep an eye on him.
answer:
Keep a eye on him and if he isnt better which a few hours call a vet asap i had a cat have a reaction like that and he almost died on us.. Good luck
Call your vet as soon as possible. Don't take a chance. One of my cats had a reaction to Revolution also. All her fur came out in the region I had put it and she scratched like crazy until it was bleeding. She had to take antibiotics and the vet gave me an ointment to put on..... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Good luck!
I agree with the previous poster - keep an eye on him. And with future treatments be extra careful not to put treatment in an area where they can still reach. Many years ago my Mom didn't realize that our cat had just about licked all the flea treatment off and he had a total muscle and nervous system breakdown. Lost all control of bowels, legs everything. Very fortunately, we got him to the vet who got a hold of poison control, and got him on the road to recovery. Now like I said that was 20 years ago and thank goodness the flea products have gotten better, but it's still a poison.

Also - Thanks to the contributors to Answers - I learned Never, Never use a dog flea repellent on a cat!!! I'm still thankful to this day that I asked ahead of time.
