Question about scratching post placement?
i got my kitten a pretty large scratching post the other day {like a house on four legs covered in sisal and carpet}, and i don't have a spot to put it beside the couch, so i was wondering if i could put it down stairs where i usually spend my time and put it in the corner of the room?, and if he would still use it if i put it there?...it is like a fully finished basement and it would be pretty much right in the room, so it's not shoved away or anything like that.
thank you, and sorry if my question is confusing.
answer: if your kitty spends time downstairs quite a bit then its fine place. Its no use putting it where the kitty does not spend time at. I have limited space too for cat trees and no basement. I have a small/medium carpet scratcher thing in the dining room near kitchen and both kitties use it there. its not really in the way but its only a couple feet high so it doesnt block anything. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
its good to get a couple other scratchers and scatter around house where kitty spends time. Mine love the "alpine" type best its sloped with a corrugated scratcher. Those can be moved as needed
if your kitty spends time there then i dont see why not.. i have 3 cats and they always preferred having there cat scratching posts in a corner away from where they sleep....have no idea why tho.....
