My poor kitties. theyre stray btw,?
my parents one day brought home a stray kitty, feeding it. and stuff, then somehow it got pregnant by another stray, so it had babies. 5, then two of those five (1 had 6) and (1 had 5) there were alotta cats, but my grandparents took all of them away, and theres only 3 left, its winter, they stay outside, could they die of the cold? i know theyre stray, but i love them. they love me. i feed them 3 times a day. theres this extra barn they sleep in. is there anything i could do to make em warm? i would be terribly said if theyd die of coldness. please answer. thankyou
The body's natural temperature is around 98 degrees. If you eat the kittens they will certainly be kept warm.
if you still have the mom or dad they'll keep them warm but if not make them a cage that they can sleep in with a heated floor.
I'm sure cats can survive in the cold climate because they have fur but then again that can't be too good for them either. Maybe you can put fuzzy blankets where they sleep and give them warm food... I put a cute fur jacket and leg warmers on my puppy when I walk her cause i'm scared she gets cold too so you can always try the clothing approach... Then again some people think that is stupid but my dog likes it and the jacket keeps her from shivering. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

How cold is the weather? Cats in general like warmth and can get cold easily. you could find an old, ragged item of clothing of yours that you can't wear anymore and put it out there for them to curl up in. Since they are in the barn, can you put a box out there with some padding in it so that they can sleep off of the ground? what they need is a comfy 'kitty cave' kind of arrangement. If anything, maybe you can adopt them out, like through Petsmart. They need a home. They will be happier with a couch or a lap, versus a box in a barn.

get them a basket filled with soft blankets and pillows, or a box they can crawl in, something snug that they can all fit in, cats love to be in small spaces and like to feel closed in, like they are hiding :D pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
they should be fine outside as long as they have a dry area to sleep and are warm enough...
I had this same situation before and I got the cats a small dog igloo and put a heating pad designed for pets in it. Of course, it wasn't long before my kitties became house kitties.
a box with some old blankets will help. if it's the kind of barn that has hay in it, pack hay around the outside of the box to give it some 'insulation.' might want to change the blankets and wash them now and then. keep the box in the warmest part of the barn (away from outer walls and cold corners).

i'm more concerned about the 15+ cats that your grandparents took away. what does that mean? where did they go?

outdoor cats that are not spayed or neutered are very likely to either get pregnant or get another cat pregnant. you saw how quickly that one cat turned into many cats. that's the biggest reason for the overpopulation of cats in this country (and others). part of loving cats and caring for cats is having them 'fixed.' call local animal shelters, ASPCA, or Humane Society and ask about low-cost spaying and neutering. call local vets and ask them. then please get them fixed. shelters are overflowing with homeless cats that no one wants -- and they're putting them to sleep by the hundreds of thousands.
