I know this may sound a little weird but, I know normal cats throw up hairballs. My cat is long haired, so when she licks herself it's supposed to come right off. She's approximatley 5 years old and only threw up a hairball ONCE. She's a little obese if that helps... maybe this is a good sign, that she's healthier then most cats? Well that's me getting my hopes up. Is it possibly clogged inside of her? I'm a little concerned. All help is appreciated :)

It's not odd for cats to not throw up hair balls. I have two and neither have ever done it.

I have had 2 cats for more than 5 years, and never had a hairball happen. So no hairballs isn't a big deal. It is not bad to not have any!

My cat is 4 and medium haired and larger and has also never thrown up a hairball. We don't do anything special. He's a very healthy, sweet, loving kitty and he's our world. Thank God we don't have to deal with hairballs. I'm sure your cat is fine. Congrats on getting a hairball free cat!

Some cats don't throw up hairballs

If you brush and comb her every day, she shouldn't need to throw up hairballs. If it was clogged inside her she would be definitely vomiting. Don't worry. If you like, you can get some hairball rememdy and give her some every day. It won't hurt her.

We brush all of our cats every day precisely so they WON'T barf up hairballs. If you regularly brush your cat it's extremely unlikely that she will have hairballs.

That is actually not a complaint that I would feel a need to make. Most would be happy. And not all cats will upchuck a hairball. In grooming, they actually swallow a lot of fur, but most of the time it passes through without a problem.

For a long haired cat, the best brush to use in grooming is a pin brush. It has prongs on one side that removes undercoat, and the brush side removes surface fur. Regular grooming will lessen any chance for hairballs.

I have multiple cats, and some have never upchucked a hairball, and others have on rare occasions. Regular combing and brushing is the key here. And they love the attention.

If she gets clogged from a hairball, you will know. She will stop eating as the most likely sign.

I have 5 cats and 2 have long hair. None of them have threw up hair balls... ever. actually i have never heard of a cat doing this except on TV. Its totally normal for her not to do it.

Some cats never have problems with hairballs while others are constantly plagued by them. I've noticed that it doesn't seem to have much to do with the length of the cat's fur. I have a long-haired cat that never has them and you think with her fur length, she would constantly get them.
