My cat has a upper respiratory infection and I need help?
I had a cat that went to the vet for major surgery. He was there for 2 weeks and after coming home, 4 of my cats and he came down with that funky Upper Respiratory infection. He had to go back to vet and stay because his fever was a 106.We think he brought it Home from the vet This was a 5 days ago.(and he is still there) Well, today one of my cats started a fever and not eating, so I took her and the vet gave her a shot, that cost me 70 bucks. He told me as long as the others dont lose theirappetitee or getlethargicc then the rest should clear up. But they all cant breathe out of their nose. Can i putVick'ss ontheire neck or something. We have a humidifier but it dont seem to put out steam like the ones I grew up using. Any tips would be much appreciated!
NO on the Vicks, it's not to be taken internally and it won't help them.

They should be on antibiotics, if it's a nasty upper respiratory, get the vet to put them on azithromyacin, it cleared up a nasty, long URI in our guys very quickly.
If your animals are coming away from the vets with problems is he a reputable vet?

Why not get a second opinion and try another vet out.

You can ask around too, friends who have cats.
Nope. You need antibiotics for everyone. Since it's pretty clear that your cat brought this home with him from the vet, you should be able to get the meds for free or at least a very reduced price for the rest of your infected cats. A "shot" sounds odd to me. Normally URI meds are pills or liquid twice a day for 7-14 days, depending on the age of the cat and the meds given (Doxy vs. Clavamox vs. Azithromycin)
