I think my cat is dying, what do I do?
My cat has been suffering from fleas for about a month now.

Yesterday my idiot mother comes over with this flea treatment and puts it on my cat without even asking. The kind where you put the stuff on the back of the neck.

I get home from work at around 8pm and my cat starts coughing and having these weird twitches. by 11pm he starts having fits. I never experience anything having a seizure before so i have no idea what to do.

I figured it was the stuff my mother put on him so I grabbed the bow from the trash bin and sure enough on the back it states "Do not administer to cats which actively groom."

My cat is still alive thankfully. I thought he was a goner after his second fit last night. However he's still couching and having these weird facial and leg twitches. He wont eat or drink either and can't walk straight. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

What can I do here?
answer:
my cat did the same thing for a whole day after my mother gave him DOG flea medicine instead of cat. I really thought he was going to die, seizure like fits. I gave him lots of water and waited. Weirdly it just stopped and never happened again. I gave my mom a BIG talking to still.
You say you got home "from work", so make your cat a priority and take him to the vet , since you have money coming in. That junk your mom put on him is poison to cats, he may survive but he will have lasting damage. Don't get anymore pets in the future until you can afford the vet.
why don't you look up vets on google and on one of their websites. they have a part where you can ask questions and get answers for free. if that doesn't help maybe you should leave your cat alone and just give her a chance to get better. this is all i can. oh and if it's cold where your living then maybe you should invest in cat clothes to keep he/she warm. maybe she can be catching a horrible cold.
your poor baby! :( i am so sorry he/she is going threw this. breaks my heart. gosh seems like your kitty is going a alergic reaction. I think your baby will get past this. if not about i say a week id find away to take him/.her to the doc.
it looks like he has an allergic reaction. I dont think he is dying, but you should take the cat to the vet. how old is he? if old it could be signs of weakness pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
i hope he feels better
my cat once had a seizer. he couldnt move his musles for a period of time. he's o.k now. your cat's condition shuld be only temerary. either that or take him to a vet. hope your cat feels better.
Wash it off him.

And, if you can't afford an animal, you shouldn't have one.
Take him to the vet!! Maybe they can do something for him lol.
Take him to the vet
Dear Canucker,

I know this isn't the help that you are looking for but he needs to be seen by a vet. Since he won't drink there is no way of diluting the poison while waiting for medical help. Ask your mom to help with the vet bill since she administered it although her intentions were good and since your cat has been infected with flea for over a month you should have treated him with a treatment for cat's that do not actively groom. He very well may be anemic due to flea infestation. I know this is not what you want to hear but your cat's well being is at stake here.
A while back my dad accidently put the dog flea preventative on my cat instead of the cat one and it had similar symptoms, but was fine after it got the taste from grooming out of his mouth. We just washed it off his neck. If your cat is still showing weird symptoms though i would take it to the vet. because they are really the only ones who can help you. As for the remark that you can't afford a vet..if you can't afford to care for your animal properly, which means taking it to the vet for check up and emergencies, then you shoudn't own a pet! In my opinion though, I dont think your cat will die, it just needs it out of its system, and time will do that probably. If it continues to not drink try to force some fluit it its mouth with a medicine droper or such.
