I believe my cat had a seizure?
My question to any vets or anyone who may have experience is this

Did my cat have a seizure? (convulsions)

I got my cat when he was roughly 2 months old. He was found at a high school, infront of the snack machine with a eye full of pus. He was taken to a vet, they gave him medicated drops and pills. He appears to be delayed in one eye. And by a delay, I mean I did a pen-light test to test his reaction, and sure enough in the prior infected eye, there is a second delay where as his other eye has perfect reaction. They are also not PERL (equal size)

So I have concluded he is blind. I can't afford to visit a vet since I have no job, but that's fine.

Some key things I notice is that if you throw an object, he will fling himself in the air, but NEVER has he EVER in the 9 months I've had him actually touch any object I've thrown. He flings himself across the room to get an object and stops about two inches and gets confused, gets up on his hind legs and does that playful jump that kittens do when attacking a toy. It's cute, but I think that his depth perception is off due to partial blindness.

NOW. To the seizure. I was sleeping last night, he was on my pillow. I was falling asleep and he stretched out and held that position. I didn't think it was unusual because I didn't feel that he was tensing. About two minutes later, I hear this sound like (no joke) silence of the lambs, the lip smacking sound. I turn my head and my cats lips are curled, he is staring straight ahead (not focused on anything) and it sounds like he is slowly inhaling as he makes this sound. I grabbed his head with my hand (which is usually relaxes and purrs into) and got no phase and no result.

I sat up and stroked him, he continued. I patted him, this continued for about a minute until he snapped out of it, sat up halfway, then smacked into my boyfriend trying to get off the bed, and then leapt over him. I didn't hear any crashing or bumping, and when I got up he'd hid under the recliner.

He didn't feel hot, and I don't know if cats have Febrile Seizures (Seizures brought on by fever) but he hasn't been sick or had any other problems.

I'm in EMT class, and some of those signs are typical in human seizures, but looking it up, I feel that my cat didn't do what other cats do during seizures. Also it's very rare, so I figure it must be neurogenic due to the infection since it was so severe. He didn't urinated, defecate, or from what I could tell drooled.

Please post your comments, I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion for me.

Thanks :)

Sounds like a seizure. Our Angel had very similar episodes and the vet put her on lithium. It was awful! So a friend of the family insisted we get and give her real cod liver oil, cold pressed. Two teaspoons full a day for 5 days and then 3 times a week for a couple of months. I did and it worked!
I don't know if this will help your cat but it's worth a try. Good Luck. Did you apply any flea/tick medication recently? That could be the source of your problem, I'm learning the hard way.
OHHHH oh scary. I'm not a vet but share your concern so for this moment go here to read up http://yourcatcareguide.com/wordpress/?p… and tomorrow take her/him to the vet. it's usually a $40 visit but if you can't afford that then maybe the nearest animal shelter can help you. You have a heart for adoption and rescue so don't let money get in the way. Your in the field of EMT so can jump to conclusions (and good for you) but to ease your mind...like any parent take it to the doc.
