How do i know when my cat Tibby is ready to go?
Tibby is 22yrs old which mean 106yrs old in cat yrs she is going downhill but not in pain?
If she shows signs of being uncomfortable, in pain, or cannot properly maintain herself very well. Although, these may be able to be fixed or helped, depending on the cause, but those are some of the more definite signs.
awww im so sorry. :( i have gone through the same situation but if you want to know when ur cat is ready to go, well if it isnt suffering, then thats good. if it acts pretty normal then it probably would live a couple more years. but if it starts to suffer pain or it struggles to get around then it may be time for your cat to go.
i know its very hard to go through a situation like this but itll be ok. many people go through this and when your cat goes, itll be in a better place.

i hope this helped. hope ur cat gets better.:(
If she loses control of her bladder/bowels, can't move a lot, just looks sad/tired all the time or doesn't want to eat then I think its time.
22 is very old for a cat!
She may stop eating, she may lie down in one spot and not move for anything, she may try to get outside, she may try to hide in places she has never gone before or may be too small for her to get into.
Cats don't show pain or illness until they are seriously in trouble.
You've had her for many years. She will let you know when it is time.

I'm a cat owner and my black queen is 21 this year. She likes to go out for a few minutes two or three times a day, into the garden or the yard, but prefers to come in after a few minutes into the warmth to sit or sleep on her favourite chair.
My cat has always been picky with her food, but she still eats a good two plates a day. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Occasionally she gets the runs with some cat foods.
She does seem to appear more frail and confused in the winter. As she often sits to dawdle turning in circles or to just sit and stare at nothing. I notice that she doesn't jump so well and seems to prefer pulling herself up onto the chair. She has been examined by the vet and the vet is happy that she seems to have nothing untoward happening to her health other than old age. Until that day my at could have another 2 or 3 years in her yet. But I will have to observe how she goes.
When the time is right I do know what to do. But this will never alter how much I love her.
Strange enough of the three kittens she had, she has outlived them all. Including Smokey who only had to be put to sleep due to a trauma he has suffered when 14. It was either a car accident although no sign of it was visible or an internal injury caused through an act of violence from the yobbos living in my area. I say this because I heard young teenagers bragging about a grey cat they had used as a football. Needless to say I wish I'd been a witch to curse all manner of evil upon those who do harm to defenceless animals. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Observing how well your cat is seems to be a good idea for the stage of life she is at, so unless she starts to have growths on her head or her eyes start showing strain with pressure or water from the brain than your cat is probably as fit as mine.
Good luck to you both for 2011.
