Do you support declawing or not?

Do you support declawing or not?
I dont!

I think its terrible.
No. Its illegal here anyway. As far as I'm concerned if you don't want an animal with claws you don't get a cat
No. Its cruel to amputate a cats toes to save furniture. Cats should be more important than furniture.
Not at all it seems against the animal right.....
No. It breaks bones and disfigures the animals. It is cruel
It is terribly cruel. I'm against the practice.
No.
when i was little my parents bought a cat from a shelter who was about to be put to sleep because he'd been there so long. he was crabby with his claws and scratched us all over, including our heads. so they got him de clawed. he was a great companion after that. we all loved him and he lived a LONG, HAPPY life. he could still hunt, and kill rodents. he could climb trees because he had his back claws.

in some instances, i support it. if he wouldn't have been de clawed, he would have DIED. it's not always black and white. you need to think of people's circumstances! stop judging people!
I most certainly do not !

Its like docking tails , but a bit worse !

I know someone who goes possum hunting , and if they shoot a mummy possum , they take the baby outta the pouch , cut the ends of their fingers off , and keep them , the babies seemed healthy after that , but still , cant of been a good day for them , loosing their mum and fingers

If your an american you would be thinking 'possums with pouches ?' :S

In other countries , possums are round brown tree marsupials
And the little light coloured things that play dead on the roads are 'Opossoms'
No! Cats deserve to keep their claws! Declawing is horrible!
Not at all, for the same reasons as all the other people who don't support it, so I won't regurgitate it here. I will add another reason though-- cats can do awesome things with their claws. It made my day once when one of my cats climbed an old mattress like a spider. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Seriously, though, if you don't want claws, don't get a cat.
No, I do not.
strictly anti declawing! I would rather have ruined furniture than mutilate my cat! It's cruel and there are other alternatives: regular trimming- scratchposts- even soft paws.
Absolutely not. I'm glad to see that most people agree.
Against. I own 13 cats. I don't care if they scratch against the carpet, I don't care if they tear up the back porch or the furniture. The scraps between the two of the older males leaves neither injured except a swipe across the nose, on occasion.

I don't care if I come home to a torn up carpet, I don't care if the couch is shredded. Go to the nearest flea market and pick another up for $10 or find someplace with old carpeting to fix the destroyed patch. It's just stuff, it can be replaced. What I don't want to see when I come home, is a dead cat. That, cannot be replaced.

If they don't have their claws, they are left defenseless. Foxes, birds of prey, dogs. They can't fend off an animal looking for a meal by batting it on the head and saying "No! Bad fox/dog/bird! Bad! Cats are friends, not food!"
