Today is Cat box Day (Sunday). This is because Monday is tra

I think it is the only household chore that occurs on an assigned day. But I remember when Monday was washday and a lot of chores had days assigned. Do you have specific days for chores? Do you remember such a thing?
Good grief, I don't know when it happened ... we have trash pick-up twice a week ... Wed. and Sat. I've become obsessed with getting every single bit of trash out ... poop-scoop the yard, one last scoop of the litter boxes .... YIKES, you'd think it's the last trash pick-up ... ever ... LOL ...

We do like to do all the yard work, mowing, trimming, blow off the driveway and patios on Friday, so it looks nice for the weekend ... And I tend to do the laundry on Friday, weather permitting ... So everything's clean and done ...

All the indoor plants get watered on Sunday morning ... The furnace/ac filter gets changed on the first of the month ... The three fountains get serviced on the 15th of the month ... As well as pet grooming, toe nails , ears ... and the bills get paid on the 1st and 15th ... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

My goodness ... I really think I should 'get a life' ... but, at least with some kind of a schedule, everything gets done in a somewhat timely manner.

How can you get away with doing the cat box only once a week? Geez, with 4 cats, I have to give it a scooping at least 3 times a day ... otherwise it stinks <: O (
please myself when I do things. I remember when I was a girl, Monday was washday, which seemed to take all day, no washing machine, Mum used to rub things on a board with soap, blue rinse, starch, out on line whatever the weather , walked them back in when frozen, for a laugh. We would have cold meat from the Sunday roast and bubble and squeak, made from left over potatoes, cabbage, onion, whatever was left from the day before. The week went on from there with the washing dry, ironing another day and house cleaning other days. When my sister married and had two rooms in the house she would clean on a Thursday evening after work. I have worked all my life and very house proud, but don't remember being that regimented in doing things.
I'm assuming cat box day=the day the litter gets completely changed? Because that's what I do --- scoop daily, change roughly weekly (sometimes more often, sometimes less. We recently switched to clumping litter and it can go about 10 days, sometimes two weeks before it has to be changed out.) We use a separate trash can in the garage for cat litter so that it doesn't have to sit all week with our household trash; then we empty out the cat trash on trash pickup day. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I like the idea of doing certain chores on specific days because it gives structure to my weeks (I'm currently going to school part-time while job hunting, so it's easy to lose track of which day is which lol).

Sunday is grocery shopping day and whatever other small errands need doing that aren't urgent. Monday is the day I do all the cooking for the week (one big versatile item to eat throughout the week, or two smaller items depending on what's on hand , and maybe a dessert item too) because the food I bought the day before will be fresh and ready to work with, plus it's my day off so I have time to do it! Yard chores are done early in the morning on the day of trash pickup so that that debris doesn't sit around. Wednesday I do coupon clipping because the weekly ad for my favorite store changes that morning, which helps me menu plan ahead of time.
It's Sunday where you live? Because it's Tuesday at my house! Just kidding.

I know exactly what you're talking about. This is how my grandma functions so well! Monday is washing and ironing, Thursday is for grocery shopping, etc. I really do think it helps, and I often resolve I will do the same thing , but I never do. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I think that with so many women working outside the home, and kids being involved in so many activities, families do what they can whenever they can squeeze it in! Oh, and every day is cat box day at my house.:)
How can you only clean the cat boxes once a week. They must really smell when it is time to clean them.

Every day is a cat box day and sometimes twice a day. I can't let them go any longer than a day.

RP CAT
I have three cats and always do the catboxes on Monday because trash day is Tuesday. Your not the only one don't worry.
When I was a kid, I remember my mother washed on Mondays, ironed on Tuesdays, and did the groceries on Wednesdays. I don't remember any other pattern to her housework. She did take us to the library every week but I don't remember if that was a specific day.

In my working adult life, I was not so organized. I did stuff when it needed doing. Partially this was because of all those other people I had to live with (you know, spouse, kids) pretty much derailing any organization I tried to instill. But mostly it had to do with working full time and having so little free time, that I managed by squeaky wheel. Whatever chore was screaming loudest got done.
