Vets are not charities. Most vets come out of vet school with large loans that have to be repaid. Becoming a vet is very challenging, since admission is actually tougher then getting in medical school.
If you are in the US or Canada, use petfinder to find rescue groups in your area. Often, they can steer you to vets that are less expensive. And there are groups that can provide assistance for spay or neuter.
How would vets make a living and who'd want to be a vet if that was the case?
If you can't afford the vet, you shouldn't have a pet. Check with your local shelter to see if they do discount vet visits but you really should reconsider owning this cat.
Probably not. You might check with your local Humane Society to see if they have a program to help with expenses. Sometimes (at least our do) they will help
depends if its just a check-up, but probz not
