About 4 weeks ago my cat go very sick, we took her to the vet had some test run and found out she had Pyometra. She had surgery and there we no complications, all her organ functions were good, she just had the infected uterus.
Now, 4 weeks later I am still having problems getting her to eat. I had to force feed her for 3 weeks then just this past weekend (11-6-10) she went into the kitchen begging for food. She ate very good on Saturday and Sunday (almost a full can of wet food a day). Yesterday (monday) she ate ok in the morning, but she never went back into the kitchen asking for food. I have not seen her eat since like 2pm on Monday.
We do have 3 other cats so I do have hard food laying around for them to nibble on. On Saturday I did noticed her eating one or two little pieces of hard food (i was so excited).
What I don't understand is why she has been refusing food since Monday at 2pm? I have offered her food several times already today, she sniffs it, MAY take a small lick, but then she walks away. I had to force feed her to day to make sure she gets to eat. she is also on an antibiotic as a preventive measure because our youngest cat had a URI.

Anyone had an issue like this? She has been to the vet several times since surgery and they don't seem concerned, they just tell me to force feed her if she isn't eating on her own .. What else could it be?
GET FOOD INTO HER TODAY! You are already familiar with assist feeding her so just go back to doing that. Believe me I know its a pain in the-butt but cats not eating is no joke, their livers can't handle it. I'd take her back in to the vet to see if there is any reason relating to her original condition she is not eating but don't wait it out. Fatty liver disease sucks and you just don't want to go there . A few extra days of syringe feeding is much easier than a few months of it.
Maybe the pet food you buy tastes bad. You should taste-test it first.
The antibiotics may be a part of it - sometimes it can upset their stomachs and make them lose interest in food. Also if she is still in any kind of pain or discomfort that can also impact appetite. I think you are right to be concerned though. I would call the vet back and tell them that her appetite came back briefly but is gone again. If they don't think she needs to be seen then at least they can offer suggestions on getting her to eat again. Good luck with your kitty.
I am not familiar with the Pyometra, but I have had experience with cats not eating.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If you change the cats food then they take a while to eat it. If she is happy with can cat food then why not give her can food with some dry in it and add more dry everytime until she is eating just dry food. If the vet is not concerned, maybe talk to another vet for a second opinion. I have heard of vets being wrong and a friend lost a kitten because the vet did not do a good job ... (that was very sad) so if you are not sure, definitely talk to another vet.
