questions about a new cat?

im getting a new adopted cat in a day or two and i was wondering what should i expect? as in clawing and all that, and food and what not, also he was a stray, that's all i know, and also hes about 6 - 7 weeks old. anything i missed that you can help with will be great, thanks
He might hide under a bed/behind a couch for a few days, even a week or so when he first gets to your house. Don ' t let that bother you .. our cat did that when we first got him, but now he walks around like he owns the place.

Buy small bags of cat food, not the big huge ones, until you figure out what kind he likes. If he hates the stuff and you bought 10 lbs of it, you wasted money.

Keep his litter box clean. If you don't, he'll start pooping all OVER the place, but it's not his fault.

Make sure his water is clean and cold.

Don't pick him up all the time .. let him come to you once in awhile.

Don't let him up on the kitchen counters. You'll get cat hair in your food, and once you allow him up there, it's really hard to get him to quit! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

No matter how much money you spend on cat toys, his favorite thing to play with will always be you.
Also, give him a flea bath.

Get flea shampoo from the pet store or walmart etc. Bathe the cat and make sure to let the shampoo sit on the cat for at least 5 minutes. Watch for fleas to run around (usually hide in armpits of cat or around their eyes). Pick any fleas off you can and rinse them down the drain. Keep the cat in the bathroom for an hour while any additional injured/dead fleas can fall off. Then treat the cat with frontline (I haven't found another brand that works. . it's cheap for a reason)
