My cat was due on Wednesday or Thursday but my cat had her kittens Saturday or Sunday but there was no one to let her in so she had them outside and we don't know where they are. I'm worried if they're okay and if I'll ever see them. We are unsure of how many she had. A neighbor said she'll bring her kittens home, if that's the case when will she bring them?
Any tips on finding them are very helpful THANK YOU!
I doubt she'll bring them home if she is satisfied with the location she's already picked. Do not force her to stay indoors as she needs to be there constantly to feed them and keep warm. I best advice to to follow her and see where she goes when she is outside. She may not want to lead you to them at first, but in the end the urge to feed them will win over and she'll have to go to them with you following. With the weather getting colder, I definitely would recover the kittens and bring them home. Make her a nice, quiet nursery in a large box in a dimly lit room. Give her privacy and comfort. Keep food out for her 24/7 as it can take 3x the calories to nurse kittens than it does to be pregnant. Keep her indoors at all costs until the kittens are old enough to fend for themselves. Being an outdoor cat is dangerous and in the past I lost a mother cat to a car and had to feed her 6 kittens every 2 hours around the clock for nearly 6-7 weeks. It is in her and the kitten's best interests to find them and get the inside soon.
Your cat probably had her nest all picked out before the birth so don't beat yourself up about not being there to let her in. She has chosen a safe place for them and will keep them there for as long as she thinks it is safe. When they begin to move around or the birthplace becomes inadequate or dangerous then she will take them somewhere else, and when she is comfortable to bring them indoors then she will. Also if you find them and move them she will just move them back, either to the original spot or else to somewhere you can't find them. Patience, now. Feed her well and let her know where home is and she will one day introduce the young ones to you, oh source of food. Good luck.
They won't come home with her until they are old enough to walk. I had a cat who gave birth in the house. Everytime I held one of her kittens she would move the entire litter to a knew hide out. Cats don 't really like having their kittens touched by humans when they are young.
