Sounds to me like you cat is just being playful. She got caught stalking you and ran away to burn up some energy. Who knows why cats do some of the weird antics they do.

Now assume that it was a coincidence but for information sake i will inform you that cats are EXTREMELY sensitive to spirits, ghosts, demons, and other paranormal occurings
they are said to even be able to see ghosts ...
thats why many cats act funny and and troubled near such entities or somebody who is possessed by them
I am not sure about dogs but i've never heard of dog being able to detect sprits and ghosts

Cats can be rather skittish (hence why people who are the same are called pussys). ANYways, it could be that it was playing with you? What did it do when it ran away? When mine rubs from me, she'll claw her cat tree then come back and chase me like she's playing.
Did you step on him recently? Express anger, like shout at him? That's when my cats avoid me. Or he just suddenly wanted to play, his heart skipped and he scooted away just for the hell of it. Or maybe he wants to mess with your head. It's working, too.
